Beloved, did you know that God once instituted a compulsory economic lockdown for His people, Israel? He said to Moses in the book of Leviticus, “Give the following instructions to the people of Israel. When you have entered the land I am giving you, the land itself must observe a Sabbath rest before the Lord every seventh year. For six years you may plant your fields and prune your vineyards and harvest your crops, but during the seventh year the land must have a Sabbath year of complete rest. It is the Lord's Sabbath. Do not plant your fields or prune your vineyards during that year...

 After the epic showdown of the plagues in Egypt, Pharaoh finally surrendered to God and let the Israelites go. The bible record that, "And the Lord gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians...so that they granted them what they requested. Thus they plundered the Egyptians." (Exd.12:36, NKJV) The contemporary English Version says, "...In this way they carried away the wealth of the Egyptians when they left Egypt." God brought His people out of the Egyptian lockdown, LOADED!...

As a result of the Covid-19 lockdown, organisations are laying off staff en masse, some people are taking forced pay-cuts, and several business have suffered a huge loss of revenue due to the mandatory shut-down. It's only natural for people to have the fear of lack in this season and battle with the temptation to withhold the little we have. Thus, it can be said that the world isn't just going through a physical lockdown right now, but also an economic lockdown, forcing people to lockdown their bank accounts and withhold their hands from giving generously, as they normally would. Well, as the saying goes, there's nothing new under the sun. History records the occurrence of a similar lockdown, more than once in the bible...
